Week 1, day 1 - complete!

Last night as I was going to sleep the rain kept getting heavier and heavier. When I woke for my run at 6am, the rain was torrential. Hubby wouldn't let me go as at 6am in winter it's pitch black and I wouldn't be able to see the slippery spots when the rain is that hard. I was gutted.

Anyway usually 6am is my only time I can get out of the house as I'm on child care the rest of the time or it's night and dark again. But my hubby kindly came home a bit earlier and I got to do my first c25k before dinner. I actually really liked exercising at that time of day. Shame it's not really possible to do it at that time every day.

I'm really getting into this running thing. Every time I go out I like it more and more. WWangel you're right, it is addictive.

I've decided I seriously need to wean myself off protein bars. Not only are they WAY more expensive than a normal chocolate bar (no idea why) but they are too easy to grab, meaning I'm not eating real food. I want to eat more real food and use protein bars only when I'm out and that's less possible.

List of chores to do and hubby out tonight.
Catch ya tomorrow.

  1. Congrats on getting week 1, day 1 done! I am hanging out for 21st June, (our shortest day) as then we gradually get more and more light from then - glass half-full attitude!!

I too have told myself to stop eating protein bars, I had found mini-fx lo carb bars and they are only 100 Cal and 1.9g of carbs in a 30g bar. Which protein bars were you eating? They don't seem to have caused you any problems losing but they are pricey.

    1. Mostly Atkins bars as that's what my supermarket has. I still lose weight but I find I'm eating them too often. Weight loss is really slow right now. Takes about a month to lose a kg. I think that's because I'm so close to my goal.

Thanks for the wiggle link. What brand of shoes do you usually buy, there are a few I haven't heard of.

    3. I run in Asics 1000's or 2000's Eg. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/asics-ladies-gel-1170-shoes-ss12/.

If you are not sure which show to go for, I know it is a bit cheeky but go to a running shoe store and try them on and make a note of the size and brand including model of the shoe they recommend and then go see if they are available on Wiggle. If you choose a big brand like Asics, Nike, Brooks etc then you will find them on wiggle but you need to know what type of foot strike you have as that will determine what shoe type you need.

I've been reading a bit about when trying to lose the "vanity pounds" (those last few Kg's) it seems you need to keep your calories a bit higher and not cut them as cutting sends a starvation signal - it it tricky business! At least I haven't been sending my body starvation signals in the last week or so ;-)

  2. I hear you! If I had access to protein bars, I would live on them alone!!! But they simply don't exist here ...
I can't believe you actually get yourself out of bed to exercise! That is a feat I have yet to accomplish!!!
