Grocery shopping

Have just been to the supermarket and stocked up on MEAT!!!! So hopefully this week I won't have to eat so much cheese. I also bought yoghurt, which I don't usually eat much of, but decided to give it a try this week.

I was surprised how the bill from my shopping wasn't as high as anticipated. But when I unpacked all the food, it was mostly meat, vege plus a few bits and pieces for the family. Amazingly enough hardly any of it was packaged foods. I know I keep going on about it, but after reading WHEAT BELLY I seriously am cutting back on wheat big time for my family too. There are some things I just won't be able to avoid for a while with school lunches (sandwiches etc...) until I retrain my son, but I can definitely cut down on the quantities of the stuff.

The weather in the North of New Zealand today is disgusting. Unfortunately I hung out washing yesterday and it is soooo much wetter now than when it went out. I guess it will be super clean by the time it comes in again!!

How do you guys get around comments from friends when you don't want to eat something? Do most of your friends just accept it or do some push you into it???
Have a great week

  1. I tend to avoid saying that "I can't eat that". I tend to say no thanks, I'm not hungry. Or I don't feel like that, or I'm not really a fan of X.

I've explained to hubby that I don't want to eat wheat because I feel better when I haven't eaten it and I eating wheat tends to make me grumpy. He is OK with that.

I don't tell people I am on a dieting, I'm not. Sure I am trying to lose that little tummy roll but because it is just a little roll that I am trying to lose people would say I don't need to. They don't realise that I WANT to. I enjoy running, I like eating low carb and I like the idea that I am not at risk of heart disease of diabetes.

  2. Enjoy all the meat and yoghurt! Tell your friends you've cut down on wheat (since most things people try to make you eat has wheat in it)and hopefully they'll stop asking!

  3. I was just thinking today how I'm going tommanage consolidation when when you have to add 2 slices of bread daily, prehaps 100% rye? I couldn't agree more, SO want to eliminate wheat from our lives. Who needs it anyway, besides, when not on diet, I always ordered the gluten free chocolate cake anyway, it's just sooooo much better!
Enjoy all your yummy meat, hope you find lots of inspiration to cook it!

  4. I was surprised at how low my grocery bills were becoming as well!

Weather in Canada is gorgeous, it's like summer even though it's the first day of spring.

I just explain to people that I am on a super-strict diet and they usually leave me alone. Some people have made rude comments or given me looks but I just try to shrug it off. It is what it is, I AM on a strict diet.
